One hundred girls from the Volta and Upper West Regions who benefited from the Ministry’s Girls in ICT Programme are set to participate in a five-day Open Day event in Accra from September 7 to 11, 2026.
The initiative is designed to expose young girls to the growing information and communication technology (ICT) sector while providing them with practical knowledge and real-world experience in technology-related fields.
During the five-day programme, the beneficiaries will visit leading ICT institutions and technology companies, including ATC, AT, CWG, MTN, NCA, Telecel and GDCL.
The educational visits will give the girls an opportunity to gain hands-on ICT experience, interact with industry professionals and learn more about potential careers in technology, telecommunications and digital innovation.
The Girls in ICT initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote digital skills among young people, encourage female participation in the technology industry and help bridge the gender gap in ICT.
The programme is expected to inspire the participating girls to pursue careers in technology, ICT, telecommunications, digital innovation and related STEM fields, while equipping them with practical skills for the digital economy.
