Kennedy Agyapong, a candidate for the NPP’s presidential nomination and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, has urged the public, in particular fellow board members of the Ghana Gas Company, to dismiss reports that he is stepping down as board chair.
This follows reports that the Assin Central MP intends to retire from his position and submit his resignation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo so that he can concentrate on pursuing his presidential aspirations.
However, the charges are false, according to a statement sent by the flagbearer candidate’s media staff on Tuesday, April 4, 2023.
“I wish to emphasize that while it is true that I will be vying for my party’s flagbearship when nominations open, it is not true that I intend to relinquish my post,” the flagbearer candidate said.
The statement continued, “I shall notify the President who appointed me when the time for me to do [that] arrives.”
In addition to making clear that seeking my party’s candidacy was a non-negotiable decision, the statement emphasized that “I equally remain committed to building and establishing Ghana Gas not only as a successful state asset but also as a worldwide leader in the gas business.”
