Ghanaian musician KiDi has shared a hilarious and unexpected childhood story about how his father once kicked him out of the family home when he was just five years old.

The award-winning singer made the revelation during an interview with Kafui Dey on Friday, August 29, 2026, where he reflected on his childhood and described himself as an extremely stubborn and mischievous child.

According to KiDi, his behaviour often got him into trouble at home, with his school shoes frequently damaged and his school uniform returning home so dirty that it looked as though he had been in a serious fight.

KiDi Recalls Funny Waakye Incident

KiDi explained that one particular incident eventually pushed his father to his limit.

He recalled that his school had closed late, leaving him waiting outside with his teacher. The teacher reportedly sent him into the classroom to collect something from her table, but the young KiDi misunderstood the instruction.

Instead of collecting the item, he assumed his teacher had asked him to eat the waakye on her table.

“I assumed that she asked me to go and eat the waakye on her table. I went to the class and finished the waakye,” KiDi recalled.

The incident became the final straw when he eventually returned home.

KiDi’s Father Orders Him Out of the House

According to the Ghanaian singer, his father became extremely angry and instructed his sister to remove all his clothes.

KiDi said he was left wearing only his church shoes before his father told him to leave the house and go and live his “notorious” life somewhere else.

The young KiDi then walked away from home and broke down in tears by the roadside.

However, his father later called him back home and used the experience to teach him a lesson about the consequences of his behaviour.

KiDi Says He Remained a Stubborn Child

KiDi revealed that his father asked him whether he had realised how much he would miss his family after being sent away.

“He asked if I saw how I was crying because I was going to miss them,” KiDi recalled.

Despite the emotional experience, KiDi admitted that the punishment did not immediately change his behaviour.

“I didn’t learn my lessons after that because I kept being a notorious child,” he said.

The entertaining childhood revelation has given fans another glimpse into KiDi’s family life and upbringing, while highlighting the humorous experiences that shaped the popular Ghanaian musician before he became one of the country’s prominent music stars.
