Virginia Evelyn Palmer, the U.S. Ambassador to Ghana, met with Kofi Okyere-Darko (KOD), Ghana’s recently appointed Director of Diaspora Affairs, to discuss important matters and to fortify business and artistic relations.

The discussion was held before KOD’s attendance at this year’s Black History Festival in Atlanta, Georgia, he wrote in a Facebook post on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

He said the talks, which focused on topics including immigration, sports diplomacy, and education, were fruitful.

“Our discussions centered on strengthening cooperation, expanding scholarship opportunities for Ghanaian youth, addressing the situation of over 150 Ghanaians awaiting deportation from the United States, and facilitating visa access for the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States,” he posted.

They also looked into “broader areas of collaboration to deepen bilateral relations between our two nations,” the Ghanaian media personality continued.

Dr. Bernice Bremong, a presidential staffer for investments and health, was also in attendance.

The interaction emphasizes further initiatives to deepen Ghana-U.S. relations, especially in areas that directly affect Ghanaians both domestically and internationally.
