In anticipation of Ghana’s Black Stars’ matchup with the Egyptian Pharaohs at the present Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, President Nana Akufo-Addo is rallying support for the team at home.
“We go again tonight against Egypt. Let’s all rally behind the Black Stars”, the president urged in a short message on Facebook.
“They need nothing but our unalloyed support.
Go Black Stars, go!”, the president wrote.
The match tonight will be Ghana’s second Group B encounter. The Félix Houphouët Boigny stadium in Abidjan will open for play at 8 p.m.
In order to maintain their prospects of competing, the Black Stars, who are now ranked last in Group B and have not gained any points from their opening match against Cape Verde, will need to win or at the very least draw against the Pharaohs.
Egypt has won the competition seven times, whereas Ghana hasn’t triumphed in it since 1982.
After 23 games, the Black Stars have only managed five victories, six draws, and twelve losses against the Pharaohs.
