The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has formally nominated himself to be the party’s running partner.
The NDC leadership declared that they will call a meeting to discuss the nomination after confirming that they have received the official correspondence.
The general secretary of the NDC, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, confirmed receiving the message from the presidential candidate in a statement that was made public today.
The party would follow Article 45 of the NDC Constitution, which specifies the process for choosing a running partner, the statement declared.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has today received a formal communication from our Presidential Candidate, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, regarding the nomination of his Running Mate in accordance with Article 45 of the NDC Constitution,” Fifi Fiavi Kwetey stated.
The NDC expressed confidence in the selected running mate’s ability to effectively complement the party’s goals by contributing significant experience and knowledge to their campaign.
The party added that each participant will receive immediate notice of the meeting location and other logistical information.
To discuss the running mate nomination, the NDC Council of Elders has set a meeting for Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
The National Executive Committee will meet again that day at 2:00 p.m. to discuss the nomination in more detail.
