President John Dramani Mahama departed Accra yesterday for official visits to Singapore and Japan with the goal of enhancing Ghana’s development, investment, and commercial ties.
The President will attend the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX) in Japan, according to a statement issued on Sunday, August 17, 2025.
It is anticipated that he would head a Ghana Presidential Investment Forum to highlight opportunities under the “Resetting Ghana” agenda and speak at a plenary session on encouraging trade and investment. ‿
He will meet with important partners while in Tokyo, such as Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, representatives of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), and the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Trade, infrastructure, technical cooperation, and investment partnerships will be the main topics of discussion.
Later, the president will embark on a three-day state visit to Singapore. He is scheduled to attend the Africa-Singapore Business Forum, meet with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, and pay a courtesy call to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
In addition, he will speak at an investment event to outline Ghana’s reform initiatives and entice Singaporean companies to make investments in Ghana.‶
As per the Presidency, the trips are anticipated to increase investment, broaden the market for Ghanaian goods, and fortify collaboration in the areas of technology, finance, infrastructure, and human capital development.
