President John Dramani Mahama conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected neighbourhoods in Accra today, following significant flooding caused by record rainfall.
The President called for the quick removal of all constructions blocking main drainage routes, the availability of emergency funds for relief activities, and assistance for impacted families.
In order to combat flooding, enhance enforcement, and bolster long-term resilience, he added, the National Security Council will immediately take into consideration further steps.
President Mahama congratulated the Ghana Armed Forces, NADMO, Ghana Police Service, emergency responders, and the 48 Engineers Regiment on their prompt rescue efforts and offered his condolences to the impacted families.
The government is still dedicated to finding long-term solutions to Accra’s flooding problem.
