Divine Selasi Agbeti, the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), has been suspended by President John Dramani Mahama for two weeks due to his alleged misbehavior involving a uniformed military officer.

Concerns over protocol violations and national security protocols have been raised by allegations that Mr. Agbeti utilized the military officer as a personal bodyguard during public appearances without the required authorization, leading to the suspension.

Sources claim that the action has sparked intense debate in security circles.

The president’s extreme displeasure with Mr. Agbeti’s behavior was expressed in a letter dated July 15, 2025, signed by Secretary to the President Dr. Callistus Mahama.

His actions were deemed “inappropriate and embarrassing to the government” by the government.

According to government insiders, additional disciplinary measures might be implemented based on the findings of ongoing internal investigations.

In March 2025, Mr. Agbeti was named Director-General of the Cyber Security Authority, replacing Dr. Albert Antwi-Boasiako, who had served in that capacity since 2017.
