President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to visit the Eastern Region on Friday, May 1, and Saturday, May 2, 2026, as part of his national “Resetting Ghana Tour.”
The Eastern Regional Coordinating Council is organising the visit, which is anticipated to unite locals, traditional leaders, local government representatives, and other interested parties for a number of development-oriented events around the area.
The 2026 National May Day celebration, which is set to take place at Jackson Park in Koforidua, will be a significant highlight of the tour.
Thousands of workers, government officials, and leaders of organised labour are anticipated to attend the event, which will highlight the vital role that labour plays in the growth of the country.
President Mahama is scheduled to conduct a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a multipurpose hall and hostel facilities at the SDA College of Education in the New Juaben North Municipality on the first day of the tour.
Additionally, he will cut sod for a planned 24-hour market in the Upper Manya Krobo District at Asesewa.
The Krobo Divisional Police Headquarters at Lasi, a project intended to improve local policing services and fortify security infrastructure, is also scheduled to be inaugurated by the President.
The tour’s second day will be devoted to inspecting ongoing development projects and engaging citizens.
At a town hall gathering at the ICGC Jesus Temple in Adweso, President Mahama will speak with locals and get their opinions on matters impacting their areas.
Inspections of ongoing projects at the University of Environment and Sustainable Development in Somanya and the Akosombo–Gyakiti Road, a vital transport route in the area and a component of the government’s “Big Push” infrastructure initiative, will also be part of the itinerary.
The “Resetting Ghana Tour” aims to increase stakeholder involvement, address the socioeconomic needs of communities throughout the nation, and reaffirm the government’s commitment to infrastructure development.
Eastern residents have been urged to pay attention to the program and take part in the planned events.
