Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has stated that Ghana’s economy has generally stabilised under the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, led on economic management by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
However, he cautioned that the high cost of living and rising transport fares continue to put pressure on Ghanaians.
Speaking on TV3’s Keypoints programme, Kpebu acknowledged improvements in economic stability but stressed that many households are still struggling with expensive goods and transportation costs.
“Generally, our economy has stabilised under Ato Forson, but the cost of living is still high, and transport fares are also very high,” he said.
His comments highlight the difference between broader economic stability and the financial challenges facing ordinary Ghanaians, particularly in relation to household expenses and daily transportation.
NDC Confident of Winning Next General Election
Meanwhile, Hamza Suhuyini, a member of the NDC communications team, has expressed confidence that the governing party will win the next general election based on its performance in government.
Speaking on the same TV3 programme, Suhuyini argued that the NDC’s record over the past two years compares favourably with the eight-year administration of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
He maintained that the NDC had achieved more within its time in office than the NPP accomplished during its two terms in government.
The comments reflect the growing political debate over Ghana’s economic management, government performance and the achievements of the two major political parties.
As discussions about the economy continue, issues such as the cost of living, transport fares, inflation and household purchasing power are likely to remain important considerations for voters ahead of Ghana’s next general election.
