A group of unemployed people with disabilities visited the Ministry to seek work possibilities, and Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection, interacted with them.

The Minister was confronted with concerns by the group headed by Mr. Gilbert Agyare.

Their visit comes after the delegation initially met with the Minister in February 2026 to discuss job issues and inclusionary routes.

The Hon. Minister went on to reassure them that the government would take concerted action with important stakeholders to address their concerns.

Building on that previous interaction, the Minister reaffirmed at this most recent meeting that a coordinated, data-driven strategy is necessary to reduce unemployment among people with disabilities.

She reassured the gathering that the Ministry is dedicated to listening to their concerns and taking appropriate action.

According to Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, since the group’s first meeting, the Ministry has started gathering thorough data on people with disabilities in order to better understand their abilities, credentials, and unique requirements.

According to her, this strategy is required to guarantee appropriate job matching.

The Minister added that in order to guarantee equity and inclusivity, the data collection process, which at first concentrated on the group, has been extended to include other handicap groups around the country.

She underlined that employment placement needs to be coordinated across sectors and done in stages.

The Minister acknowledged the group’s displeasure but also pointed out that interactions had not stopped, implying that ongoing procedures were still in place to deal with their issues.

The Minister reiterated her commitment to ongoing communication with pertinent parties and offering useful interventions targeted at enhancing employment prospects for people with disabilities as the meeting came to a positive conclusion.
