Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister known as Accra Commando, has been cautioned to refrain from interfering with Teshie’s chieftaincy affairs.

Enoch Addo, Registrar of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, also received the warning. At a news conference on May 25th, the Chiefs and traditional leaders of Teshie issued the warning.

This was in response to an alleged attempt by Hon. Henry Quartey and Mr. Addo, assisted by some Teshie community members, to form a new Traditional Council for Teshie. The chiefs contend that this is an inappropriate encroachment on Teshie chieftaincy concerns.

Lead by the Oblahia Mantse of Teshie Gbugblah, the chiefs and traditional leaders emphasized that since Teshie has not recognized Teshie Mantse, the Regional Minister and Registrar’s action is unlawful. They will rebuff such an attempt, he warned.

Henry Quartey was charged by the chiefs of purposefully attempting to undermine the peace and stability that the Teshie people were experiencing.

They cautioned that if the Minister does not stop taking such acts, his behavior would lead to unneeded tension and possibly turmoil in Teshie.
