Salam Mustapha, the National Youth Organizer for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the NDC of blatantly stealing NPP programs.
The charge follows the NDC’s recent declaration that, should they win power, they would pay the tuition for all first-year university students.
Speaking on Adom Fm, Mr. Mustapha clarified that the NDC is just restating concepts that the NPP first put forth.
He alleged that the NDC was now repeating Vice President Bawumia’s earlier remarks.
Even though he conceded that mimicry can be flattering, Mr. Mustapha had doubts about the NDC’s capacity to carry out these policies.
He suggested that the NDC’s pledge is neither new nor inventive, pointing to already-existing programs like the Ghana Student Loan Trust.
The young organizer for the NPP continued, calling the NDC’s plan a “vote-buying gimmick” and casting doubt on their sincerity.
“If you didn’t initiate something yourself, it’s very difficult to implement it, and that’s the problem with the NDC,” he stated.
In Ghana, as the nation prepares for elections, Mr. Mustapha’s charges have triggered a contentious discussion about political integrity and intellectual property ownership.
