The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park’s Executive Director, Dr. Collins Nunyonameh, revealed that the park brought in GH¢10 million in income in 2025 after drawing 266,000 visitors.

Dr. Nunyonameh claims that the figure shows a notable rise in both visitor numbers and revenue over prior years, underscoring the park’s increasing popularity as one of Ghana’s top historical and cultural tourism destinations.

Seventy-five percent of visitors were domestic, while the remaining twenty-five percent were foreign. The total income generated was around GH¢10 million.

The numbers show a consistent increase in visitors when the park launched in July 2023, he said.

In 2023 and 2024, the park had an anticipated 333,000 visits per year, with total income of just under GH¢8 million.

He noted that both local and international travellers contributed to the increase in patronage, citing improved facilities management, an improved visitor experience, and increased promotion of Ghana’s heritage tourism.

Dr. Nunyonameh stated, “We do not retain 100 percent of our internally generated funds. So, the government keeps 34% of what we create, and we keep 66%.

“Even though we had less numbers in 2025 than we did in 2024, our revenue was approximately GH₵2 million more in 2025.”

“The distinction between domestic tourists and international tourists in this park is the price they pay.”

“The international tourists pay four times what the regular Ghanaian will pay,” he added.

The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, which honours Ghana’s first president and a crucial participant in Africa’s independence movement, continues to be a popular destination for tourists, students, and academics interested in the country’s history.

Dr. Nunyonameh expressed confidence that tourist numbers would continue to climb in the coming years, particularly with continuous efforts to improve facilities and market Ghana as a preferred tourism destination.
