The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has declared that on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, nominations will be accepted for the 2028 flagbearer position.
A crucial stage of the selection process has begun, leading up to the party’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, also known as Nana B, affirmed that nominations would open on the specified date in accordance with constitutional provisions requiring at least six months’ notice prior to the primary.
Former Education Minister and Bosomtwe MP Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, and former party general secretary Kwabena Agyepong are among the prominent party figures who have already publicly indicated their intention to run.
Even though he hasn’t made a formal announcement, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former vice president and the NPP’s candidate for the 2024 election, is regarded as the front-runner.
