Pamela Graham, a public finance specialist, has been recommended by President John Dramani Mahama for the role of Auditor-General, pending Council of State review.

The nomination was sent to the President by the Secretary in accordance with Article 70(1)(b) of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates that the President consult the Council prior to making a final appointment.

According to sources, the action is a part of the President’s larger initiatives to improve financial supervision and restore trust in important institutions of governance.

Pamela Graham is reported to have a solid reputation for honesty and professionalism in addition to a wealth of experience in public finance management, audits, and institutional governance.

Ghana’s accountability structure revolves around the role of the Auditor-General, who is in charge of reviewing public accounts and making sure that all state institutions are adhering to financial rules and regulations.

In the upcoming days, the Council of State is anticipated to review the nomination and provide the President with appropriate advice.

If confirmed, Graham will succeed Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, who has been the Auditor-General since September 2021.
