The Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) has been ordered by the National Labour Commission (NLC) to overturn a decision to block allowances for GBC employees.
In a hearing on a complaint brought before it by the FWSC over threats made by GBC personnel to go on strike in protest of their allowances, the NLC referred to the FWSC’s direction as unconstitutional.
The FWSC has been given a 14-day deadline by the NLC to change its mind and restore all deductions from the pay of GBC employees. As no objections were voiced, the two parties accepted the directive.
