The Ashanti Region’s Atafoa Bridge was officially opened by President Akufo-Addo, allowing residents of Atafoa and the surrounding towns to breathe a sigh of relief.
Perennial floods and accidents on the roads and in nearby settlements during the rainy season have been problems for the locals for years; in the past two years, there have been at least nine(9) fatalities and injuries.
The Atafoa Bridge is a 40-meter-long, reinforced concrete bridge with walkways that spans the River Nwabi in the Bantama Municipality and is situated on the Abrepo-Barekese Road.
Hon. Asenso-Boakye, who spoke at the commissioning ceremony, stated that the bridge and the road renovation that goes with it are concrete instances of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia administration’s strong commitment to providing infrastructure that directly meets the needs of the populace.
He pointed out that Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, is a nodal city that depends on strong infrastructure to support its growth as a center of agriculture, trade, and culture.
