As one of his administration’s main goals, President John Mahama has reiterated his commitment to bringing peace back to Bawku.
Speaking at Bawku, his first journey outside of Accra since taking office, Mahama underlined his dedication to bringing about enduring peace in the region.
“During the campaign, I stated that if God granted our desire and I was elected president, bringing peace to Bawku was going to be one of my number one priorities,”
“Today marks exactly one week since my swearing-in, and my first major assignment outside Accra is to assure you that we are working diligently to bring peace back to Bawku.” he reiterated.
Mahama disclosed that selections for important ministerial positions pertaining to security will be concluded within the week in order to speed up the procedure.
“We are putting in place the various appointments so that we can have ministers and other officials responsible for security to take charge. Within this week, we will appoint the Minister of Defense, Minister of Interior, National Security Advisor, National Security Coordinator, BNI Director, and others. Once these appointments are made, I will charge them to make Bawku one of their top priorities.” he stated.
“I want to assure you that I am fully apprised of the issues, and I am committed to dealing with them. Trust in myself and this administration, and by the grace of God, peace will be restored permanently to Bawku,” he added.
President Mahama urged the populace to be patient and restrained while his administration takes the required actions to resolve the issue.
