At the recent G20 conference in South Africa, former President Olusegun Obasanjo delivered a stunning statement on favor of President John Dramani Mahama’s revolutionary program, the Accra Reset.

The Accra Reset is a bold platform grounded in the Global South with the goal of changing development cooperation into a system that is country-led, regionally empowered, and globally cohesive.

The Accra Reset program, led by President Mahama, who is also the African Union Champion for Reparations, aims to shift Africa and the Global South away from aid dependency and unsustainable loans and towards trade, investment, and wealth creation.

As President Obasanjo declared, an interim Secretariat of the Accra Reset has officially begun operations in Ghana.

The presidential council now includes nearly two dozen former heads of state and international leaders from Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Caribbean, and a high-level panel is being formed to prepare a major report on global governance reorganization.

In his presentation, President Obasanjo observed that our history of AID and loans has produced an economy of dependency.

To move forward, we must re-architect our economies based on trade and investment, he added.

President Obasanjo extended sincere gratitude to South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa and other G20 members for this historic partnership opportunity.

This is more than a summit address, he stated, it is the beginning of a new global order that prioritises workable business models over unending aspirational aims.
