Ghana’s Parliament has approved a total of GH₵34.9 billion for five ministries for the 2026 financial year on day one of the approval process.
The House on Tuesday considered and approved the budget hearing reports from the various committees for the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Works, Housing and Water Resources, and the Gender, Children and Social Protection Ministry.
The Health Ministry, for instance, saw the highest approved figure of the day, receiving GH¢22.8 billion, with employee compensation taking a chunk worth GH¢16.24 billion.
The Roads and Highways Ministry got an approved GH¢5.37 billion, the Gender Ministry GH¢3.26 billion, the Ministry of Transport, GH¢1.5 billion, and Housing GH¢1.46 billion.
