Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC is targeting a 40 to 42 per cent share of Ghana’s mortgage market by the end of 2026, as the bank steps up efforts to strengthen its position in the country’s housing finance sector.
The Managing Director of Republic Bank Ghana, Dr Benjamin Dzoboku, disclosed the target during an interview on Joy FM’s Personality Profile, hosted by Lexis Bill on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
According to Dr Dzoboku, Republic Bank Ghana currently controls more than 38 per cent of the mortgage market, giving the financial institution a significant presence in Ghana’s mortgage financing industry.
He said the bank intends to build on its existing market share by placing greater emphasis on mortgage financing and housing loans.
Republic Bank Ghana Expands Mortgage Financing
The renewed focus on mortgage lending forms part of Republic Bank Ghana’s broader strategy to strengthen its role in the Ghana housing finance market.
With demand for affordable housing and home financing remaining an important issue for many Ghanaians, banks and financial institutions continue to play a key role in providing mortgage products to individuals seeking to purchase or develop residential properties.
Republic Bank Ghana’s target of reaching between 40 per cent and 42 per cent of the mortgage market in 2026 signals its intention to expand its customer base and increase its contribution to housing finance.
Bank Targets Growth in Ghana’s Housing Finance Sector
Dr Dzoboku’s comments highlight the bank’s plans to consolidate its position within Ghana’s competitive banking and mortgage industry.
The institution’s strategy is expected to focus on expanding mortgage financing while strengthening its presence among Ghanaians seeking home loans, housing finance and property financing solutions.
If achieved, the target would represent further growth from the bank’s current mortgage market share of more than 38 per cent.
The development comes as Ghana’s financial sector continues to explore ways of improving access to affordable mortgage financing and housing opportunities.
