Health Minister Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye has urged Ashanti region voters to keep the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in office in order to guarantee the completion of important medical projects, especially the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital’s (KATH) Maternity and Children’s block.

The Debt Exchange Program caused the 500-bed Maternity and Children’s block project at KATH to stop, but construction has now resumed on it.

Dr. Okoe Boye emphasized during a tour of the project site that the contractor would not be able to finish the project by December 2024.

He emphasized that in order to see the initiative through to completion, the NPP must continue to hold political power.

“The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will abandon the KATH project and other similar initiatives, therefore, it is crucial to vote for the NPP to ‘break the eight’ and enable us to complete these vital projects,” Dr. Okoe Boye said.

The Minister also brought up the Suame hospital project, which had a 40-bed capacity and started in 2020 but was also postponed because of the Debt Exchange Program.

By September of this year, Dr. Okoe Boye promised that this project will be finished.
