Lawyers representing Joana Quaye, ex-wife of businessman Richard Nii Armah Quaye, widely known as RNAQ, have attacked him over what they term as biased comments intended to poison the minds of the public in the ongoing legal procedures over their dissolved marriage.

The businessman’s remarks in an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso on “The Delay Show” “are all substantially untrue,” according to a statement from the attorneys.

Former Attorney General Godfred Yeboah Dame signed the statement, which said that “the allegations also unfairly castigated the reputation and integrity of our client, Joana Quaye.”

For the last four years, RNAQ and Joana Quaye have been embroiled in a contentious divorce dispute.

Joana Quaye requested GH¢50 million, but a High Court granted her a lump payment of GH¢300,000 in January of this year.

Since then, her lawyers have filed an appeal against the High Court’s “strange” ruling.

The notice of appeal filed by her new solicitors, Dame & Partners, claims that the judge only gave the ex-wife one-third of a house in Dansoman, GH300,000 as financial provision, and GH5,000 to be paid by RNAQ each month for the upkeep of all three children, despite the evidence presented during the trial demonstrating that Richard Nii Armah Quaye founded his well-known company, Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Limited (renamed Bills Micro Credit Limited) with Joana Quaye as a

During “The Delay Show,” RNAQ asked the audience to ignore his ex-wife Joana Quaye’s assertions that she helped him succeed in business.

“Everything you have heard are untrue. They are orchestrated, deliberate attempt to attack me, to succumb and get me on my knees because I am building a brand for myself, and this is what they can use to defame me,” he stated.

In response, her solicitors refuted the accusations made against her, pointing out that the fact that the parties were married in 2010 shortly after RNAQ returned from a brief visit to the UK in 2009, a period when he was unemployed and did not own any of the properties he does now, is a matter of public record and cannot be altered by a self-serving ex post facto interview on ‘The Delay Show’.

According to the document, “the subsequent secret and illegal transfer of Joana Quaye’s shares by Richard Nii Armah Quaye without the knowledge of our client, the use of Quick Credit to acquire properties and set up other companies, are also matters of public record and documented in court proceedings.” The couple jointly established Quick Credit & Investment Micro-Credit Company Limited in 2011, with both Richard Nii Armah Quaye and Joana Quaye as the original shareholders.

“We consider this as an effort to unfairly prejudice the minds of the public against our client and undermine and impede a fair administration of justice in the case.”

The statement further stated that Joana Quaye’s appeal was properly served on Richard Nii Armah Quaye around two weeks ago, and the appeal was later settled in compliance with the court’s regulations.

It declared, “Mr. Quaye’s illegal motivation to obstruct the course of justice by publishing prejudicial statements in the media is all too glaring.”

Additionally, it stated that Joana Quaye will keep quiet and trust Ghana’s legal system in the hopes of receiving justice for the wrongdoings and abuse she endured at the hands of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, as well as an equitable distribution of all the properties the parties acquired during their marriage, as required by Ghanaian law.

“We entreat the public to disregard the wild and unfounded claims of “richness before marriage” made by Richard Nii Armah Quaye (highlighted by his claim of alleged ownership of a VW Passat), as well as the attacks on the reputation of our client, as a mere publicity stunt. Joana Quaye will surely get justice for the wrongs and abuses she has suffered one fine day,” it reiterated.
