Rapper Sarkodie has addressed the criticism he received online after posting on Instagram about “going back to gari soakings.”
The “Happy Day” singer wrote, “Back to gari soakings like we never left,” on his Instagram story on January 8, 2025.
Some people took this seemingly harmless remark as a politically charged jab against the recently elected NDC government, which set off a chain of reactions.
In response to the criticism, Sarkodie posted a video of Rev. Obofuor, a well-known preacher in Ghana, on his X account.
Rev. Obofuor cautions against depending solely on rumors and stresses the value of critical thinking in the video. In the video, the preacher declares, “Only fools rely on hearsay; no wise person does.”
Many people believe that Sarkodie’s publishing of this video is a subtly offensive rebuttal to those who misunderstood his original Instagram post.
