President John Dramani Mahama and President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe have reiterated their shared commitment to developing bilateral relations after signing a number of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in various vital sectors.

Political and diplomatic consultations, energy, health, tourism, sports, commerce and investment, archives, foreign service training, and cultural cooperation are just a few of the important sectors covered by the agreements reached during President Mnangagwa’s State Visit to Ghana.

Along with private sector alliances targeted at enhancing economic cooperation, the two nations also approved the minutes of the first meeting of the Ghana-Zimbabwe Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC).

Speaking at the conclusion of bilateral talks, President Mahama characterised the visit as fruitful, forward-thinking, and a reaffirmation of Ghana and Zimbabwe’s long-standing ties of friendship, solidarity, and shared history.

In order to take collaboration to a higher strategic level, he said, the engagements have given rise to a clear plan, revitalised political will, and new energy.

President Mahama highlighted that both nations are dedicated to converting policy goals into real results through more private sector involvement, targeted investments, and enhanced trade.

In order to guarantee successful implementation and ongoing participation, he emphasised the significance of fortifying institutional systems, especially the PJCC.

President Mahama emphasised the need to advance common positions and protect shared interests in a changing global landscape while reiterating a shared commitment to Pan-Africanism, African solidarity, and coordinated engagement within the African Union and the United Nations.

In his closing remarks, President Mnangagwa emphasised the two countries’ long-standing and familial relationships, pointing out that the State Visit had raised bilateral relations to a higher strategic level.

He urged a clear transition from discussion to action and praised the positive and forward-thinking discussions that took place throughout the visit.

He emphasised that the real worth of the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) is found in their concrete effects on citizens’ lives and asked ministers and authorities to guarantee the prompt operationalisation of all agreements.

He also emphasised the value of private sector cooperation and recognised the contribution of organisations like ZimTrade and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) to the advancement of business-to-business interaction.

Both presidents emphasised how crucial it is to take use of the partnership’s prospects to advance economic transformation, boost investment and trade, and provide quantifiable benefits to their respective peoples.

The interactions also demonstrated a common dedication to justice, sovereignty, and the timeless principles of African unification.
