The Homowo cleanup project is scheduled to start today, Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 6:00 am and end at 12:00 pm in Sempe, Gbese, Abloa, Asere, and the Dogo Beach in Ga Mashie, according to a statement from the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA).

The assembly has asked stores, markets, and companies to stay closed on the designated day for the cleanup; however, transportation services, pharmacies, and medical institutions are exempt. The statement was signed by the head of public affairs, Gilbert Nii Ankrah.

Mr. Ankrah went on to say that the cleanup efforts have been divided into six (6) zones that encompass the whole area. Zone 1 is made up of the AMA and its three sister assemblies.

“The program which is grouped into six (6) zones covering the entire region” Mr. Ankrah said, “aims to unite community members under the leadership of Niimei and Naamei to enhance the cleanliness and beauty of our local environment while fostering a spirit of unity and responsibility”
