The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, hosted an engagement for first-term Members of Parliament to increase collaboration and bridge the gap between his office and freshly elected legislators.
He stressed the significance of such contacts and indicated that such sessions would be extended to current MPs, the media, and the general public via television broadcasts.
The Speaker reaffirmed the vision of the 9th Parliament, emphasizing Parliament’s commitment to openness and inclusivity.
He emphasized the importance of cultivating a democratic culture that values integrity, honesty, civility, and active involvement.

The Speaker also advocated for the formation of a mentorship program to promote knowledge sharing between senior and rookie members.
Reflecting on Parliament’s evolution, he observed a steady transition from extreme partisanship to a more mature and robust multiparty democratic atmosphere.
He asked MPs to keep their party identities while supporting values that promote national growth.
