Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has unveiled a set of tax measures for the 2026 Budget, aimed at making the fiscal system more equitable, simple, and business-friendly.

Dr. Forson, who presented the budget to Parliament, stated that the revisions signal a watershed moment in Ghana’s tax administration, with the goal of making compliance easier for businesses and improving domestic revenue mobilisation.

The government has eliminated the COVID-19 Health Recovery Levy, cut the effective VAT rate from 21.9 percent to 20%, and increased the VAT registration barrier from GH¢200,000 to GH¢750,000 to lessen the burden on small and medium firms.
