The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the provisional results of the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for school candidates.
According to WAEC, a total of 512,862 candidates from 1,022 schools were registered to write the 2026 WASSCE. The candidates comprised 225,270 males and 287,592 females.
The number of candidates who participated in the 2026 WASSCE represents an 11.07 per cent increase compared with the 461,736 candidates who registered for the examination in 2025.
WAEC disclosed that 5,049 candidates, representing 0.98 per cent of the total candidates, were absent from the 2026 WASSCE.
How to Check 2026 WASSCE Results
WAEC said the 2026 WASSCE results have been hosted online, with login credentials expected to be provided to heads of participating schools to enable them to access their students’ results.
Candidates who want to check their 2026 WASSCE results online can do so through the official WAEC website using the appropriate WASSCE results checker.
The release of the provisional results is expected to allow candidates, schools, parents and other stakeholders to review their examination performance ahead of subsequent admission and academic processes.
WAEC Warns Against WASSCE Results Fraud
WAEC has also issued a strong warning to candidates and the general public about WASSCE results fraud and examination scams.
The Council cautioned candidates against fraudsters who claim they can upgrade, change or improve WASSCE results in exchange for money.
WAEC stressed that its examination results are securely protected and can be authenticated through the Council’s official results verification system.
Candidates can also use the WAEC QR code provided for results verification to confirm the authenticity of their examination results.
The Council urged candidates, parents and other stakeholders to ignore individuals who promise to alter or upgrade examination results.
WAEC emphasised that anyone offering to manipulate 2026 WASSCE results for payment should be treated as a fraudster, and such claims should be disregarded.
