Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang opened the 74th Annual Council Meeting of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), which was hosted by Ghana this year.
She praised member states for their unwavering dedication to maintaining this important regional organization.
WAEC continues to be one of the most successful models of regional cooperation, contributing significantly to the development of participating nations’ human resources and upholding high standards of education.
In keeping with the President’s commitment to protect our society, the Vice President asked the Council to continue maintaining its credibility and integrity, especially by tackling examination misconduct through shared responsibility involving schools, communities, and stakeholders.

She gave certificates to exceptional kids who performed well on the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2025, as part of the program.
The first three recipients are young women from Ghana whose brilliance embodies the potential of our country. I encourage other students to take inspiration from their accomplishments and applaud them, their parents, teachers, and communities.
Ghana is steadfast in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of education, and it will keep collaborating closely with WAEC to improve assessment procedures, safeguard exam integrity, and guarantee that our educational results satisfy international standards in support of regional and national development.
