The office of the Attorney General faced criticism last week after many questioned why there hadn’t been much advancement in the prosecution of Appiah Mensah, also known as NAM 1.
This comes after Appiah Mensah announced plans to release locked-up funds of his irate clients in exchange for a payment of roughly GHc 650 for verification.
After receiving criticism from the public, he later withdrew the money need for the verification.
Many others feared that the delay in his prosecution had given him more confidence.
His plea has not been entered in a new charge sheet after 36 adjournments in the case that started in 2019. It was claimed that the reason for the delay was the Attorney General’s office’s failure to render a decision on the docket.
However, in an intriguing turn of events, the attorney general’s office has dismissed the original case that was being handled before the circuit court and has instead brought fresh charges before the High Court.
