The Finance Minister has been instructed by President John Mahama to obtain funds so that Phase II of the Blekusu Sea Defense Project can begin.
This project aims to lessen the damage caused by tidal waves that left over 600 people without homes in villages like Amutinu, Agavedzi, and Salakope.
On March 6, 2025, the President visited the impacted districts and promised locals that the administration was dedicated to finding long-term solutions to the persistent issue.
He underlined that the forthcoming national budget, which will shortly be presented to Parliament, would include funds for the Blekusu Sea Defence Project Phase 2.
“Funding for the sea defence project will be captured in the budget to be presented to Parliament in a few days,” he promised.
The government has declared the immediate allocation of a safe relocation site for those affected by the accident, in addition to the sea defense project.
