The results of a competitive tender process for the Damang Mining Lease have been maintained by the government, according to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources.
The Ministry announced in a press statement on April 7, 2026, that Engineers and Planners Ltd. (E&P) has been given the lease, based on suggestions made by the Tender Committee of the Minerals Commission.
The Ministry claims that E&P fulfilled all of the requirements specified in the tender process, including proving the technical know-how and experience required to run the mine and providing evidence of funding exceeding the minimal threshold of $500 million USD.
Only two of the four bidders, Engineers and Planners Ltd. and Heath Goldfields Ltd., fulfilled the basic specifications. E&P was the winning bidder, though, as Heath Goldfields Ltd. failed to meet the required technical score.
Due to their failure to provide the necessary documentation, the other two businesses, Vortex Resources Mining Group and Maripoma Mining Services Ltd., were eliminated.
The Ministry commended the Tender Committee for its work and reaffirmed government’s commitment to ensuring the continued contribution of the Damang Mine to Ghana’s economy.
The Minerals Commission has been instructed to take the required actions to carry out the decision, it further stated.
