Hon. Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, the interior minister, revealed that the National Security is working with the US Embassy to verify the legitimacy of the alleged fake currency.

Additionally, the Interior Minister mentioned that the Ghana Gold Board and the Bank of Ghana are working together to verify the legitimacy of the confiscated Ghana cedis and gold bars.

When he came before the House to answer questions about his ministry, he said this.

Hon. Frank Asiedu Bekoe, the Suhum Member of Parliament, was interested in the status of the purported large-scale seizure of fake US dollars, Ghanaian cedi notes, and suspected gold bars concealed in 20-foot containers at a Sapeiman warehouse on March 9, 2025.

The Minister went on to explain that based on intelligence, security personnel were able to successfully seize the fake US dollars and gold bars that were kept in a shipping container in the Sapeiman region.

He stated that the exhibits were safely safeguarded in accordance with the existing security procedures. He stated that the media, a crucial collaborator in this endeavor, was asked to report on the story in order to promote responsibility.

According to Hon. Muntaka, investigations are still being conducted to determine the identities of the suspects, their agents, and the scope of their activities.
