Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, met with a Nokia delegation at the Ministry in Accra and reiterated the government’s commitment to speeding up Ghana’s digital transformation.
The meeting, which followed up on previous talks at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, was centred on cooperation for Ghana’s expansion of its digital infrastructure, readiness for 5G, and innovation-driven development.
Nokia’s consistent presence and technological leadership were praised by Honourable George, who described the corporation as a vital partner assisting all of the nation’s major network operators.
The Ministry’s role as a facilitator of digital transformation in several government sectors, including as public service delivery, land administration, and health, was reaffirmed by him.

Opportunities for cooperation in cutting-edge fields like 5G deployment, fiber-to-home connectivity, data centre development, and digital public safety systems were also discussed in order to improve service delivery and national resilience.
The Minister underlined the government’s resolve to guarantee prompt 5G deployment and enhance internet dependability in order to foster innovation, remote work, and digital inclusion.
The group was led by Mr. Marco Rebecchi, Country Manager for Ghana and Nigeria, who emphasised Nokia’s long-standing cooperation with Ghana dating back to 1998 and its involvement in significant national initiatives like the largest LTE rollout in Africa and the Eastern Corridor Fibre Network.
Through its recently finished Innovation Centre in Ghana, which intends to teach engineers and complement the Ministry’s One Million Coders initiative, Nokia further underlined its commitment to local capacity development.
In the upcoming year, both sides indicated that they were prepared to expand their collaboration, concentrating on innovation, rural connection, and sustainable digital infrastructure. In order to discuss potential future technology collaborations, Nokia also invited the Minister to visit its Centre of Excellence in Finland.
