Wa Naa To Chair Girls-In-ICT Climax Event In Upper West Region

The invitation to chair the Upper West Region’s National Girls-In-ICT Program finale, which is set for Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the Franco Conference Hall in Bamahu, Wa, has been accepted by the Wa Naa, Naa Fuseini Pelpuo IV, Paramount Chief of the Waala Traditional Area.

When a delegation headed by the Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations paid the Wa Naa a courtesy call at his palace to announce their presence in the area and ask for his approval for the continued training of girls under the national initiative, the invitation was formally extended.

The Deputy Minister praised the Wa Naa for his ongoing support of education and youth empowerment in the area on behalf of Sector Minister Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP).

He pointed out that the government’s determination to guarantee inclusivity in the development of digital skills and close the gender digital divide in all areas is reflected in the Ministry’s choice to hold the finale event in Wa.

He emphasised that the Girls-In-ICT Program is one of Ghana’s premier digital inclusion programs, which aims to inspire and prepare young girls for jobs in STEM fields by providing them with fundamental ICT skills.

Dr. Rashid Tanko Computer, the CEO of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), accompanied the Deputy Minister and emphasised the organization’s crucial role in carrying out the initiative across the country.

In his reply, the Wa Naa thanked the Ministry for choosing the Upper West Region as the host and gave the delegation the assurance that the traditional leadership would fully support them.

He praised the administration for giving girls’ technological education top priority, calling it a significant step towards gender parity and national growth.
