As a prelude to the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) Capacity-Building Bootcamp Workshop for Cabinet Ministers, the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations successfully conducted a hybrid introductory AI training session for designated focal persons from Sector Ministries and Key Institutions.
The purpose of this engagement is to give these persons the skills and information they need to assist their respective ministers and lead AI-related projects in all branches of government.
During a brief opening ceremony at the Ministry’s conference room in Accra, Mr. Joseph Tetteh, the Director of Human Resources (HR), read a speech on behalf of the Minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George.
He claims that the training is a direct result of the Ministerial Executive Leadership Programme (ELP) that was held in Ada, where a major consensus was achieved regarding the pressing necessity of using AI as a catalyst to ensure the successful and efficient execution of the government’s Reset Agenda.
In addition to highlighting the Ministry’s renewed mandate to lead Ghana’s digital transformation agenda and develop institutional capacity to fully utilize emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, the Honourable Minister disclosed that he was then assigned to lead the national effort.
The initiative, according to the Hon. Minister, highlights the understanding that, although introducing all Sector Ministers to the fundamentals of artificial intelligence is essential, the long-term viability of this drive depends on the ability of focal points across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

“These individuals will be equipped with core knowledge of AI in governance and positioned as internal champions to drive its successful integration within their institutions, moving innovation and data-driven decision-making beyond rhetoric”, he added.
The Minister acknowledged the hard work and dedication of all focal persons who will be the “bridge” that translates this national AI capacity-building drive into quantifiable improvements in the way the government serves the people and expressed sincere gratitude to its partners at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for their ongoing support.
“The Ministry is fully committed to fostering an enabling environment for improved public service delivery through AI tools and solutions, aiming to enhance efficiency, transparency, and evidence-based policy-making”, he indicated.
He clarified that the foundational training is anticipated to result in the creation of sector-specific AI strategies, which will be approved by the president and incorporated into Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that gauge how AI-driven solutions from Ministries contribute to the Reset Agenda.
