Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, a potential NPP flagbearer, is the first to submit his candidacy paperwork to run in the party’s forthcoming presidential primary on November 3, 2023.
On Monday, June 12, 2023, the former Minister of Trade and Industry submitted his nomination papers to the NPP headquarters in Accra.
He was accompanied by current and past members of parliament as well as some top party officials, including John-Peter Amewu, the minister for railway development and the MP for Hohoe, and Abena Osei Asare, the deputy minister of finance and the MP for the Atiwa East constituency.
The candidate for flagbearer demanded a free and fair election. The only way to ensure that we can win and take the reins of government in 2024 and succeed ourselves is to have free, fair, and transparent elections, he said.
Consequently, while praising you for the work you’ve done thus far in the procedures leading to the filing of nominations, I will encourage you and hope that you will take all necessary steps to ensure that our party has free, fair, and transparent elections.
He extended his appreciation to the party’s leaders and supporters for giving him the chance to run for president.
He reaffirmed his commitment to the NPP’s goal of creating an inclusive society for all Ghanaians.
The NPP updated its schedule for the upcoming presidential and Orphan Constituencies primaries in a statement on Monday, June 12.
The updated schedule states that “Prospective presidential aspirant(s) will be vetted from July 3 through July 6, 2023.
