Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of parliament for North Tongu, has disclosed that a recent interview with the former chairman of the New Patriotic Party provides justification for the need to look into the sale of four SSNIT hotels.
He claims that there are contradictions in the agreement and that Ghanaians should be given clarification.
Following Freddy Blay’s admission in an interview that his son had made an offer of between $150 and $200 million for the SSNIT hotels, he made this known.
The agreement is murkier since, according to Ablakwa, he was correctly informed that Bryan Acheampong made the best and highest offer of $61 million. Freddy Blay’s assertions that his son offered more money are therefore unfounded.
“Unending murkiness. We were told Bryan Acheampong offered the highest bid of US$61million; now former NPP Chairman, Freddie Blay also says his 34 year old son offered “150 to 200 million” for the SSNIT hotels.
One more convincing defense of my RTI Requests for the minutes of the tender committee meetings and the tender evaluation report.
State Capture will undoubtedly fail! For God and Country. Ghana First,” he wrote in a social media post.

In a TV3 interview, Freddy Blay stated that he was not involved in his son’s business operations and that he shouldn’t be held accountable because his son entered a contract bid with the backing of international hotel chains and syndicated banks.
He feels that his son is old enough that his membership in the ruling party shouldn’t influence his actions.
