A four-person business delegation from the Dubai Chamber of Commerce met strategically with the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as part of an initiative to broaden Ghana-UAE international business ties.

The meeting emphasised how crucial it is that Ghana and the UAE continue to negotiate a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is anticipated to greatly expand bilateral trade and investment cooperation.

Ms. Sumaya Al Shamsi, Director of International Partnerships at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce, who led the trip, clarified that the Chamber chooses two important target nations for commercial outreach each year.

Sector-specific business delegations meet with possible partners in the chosen nations during these engagements. Ethiopia and Ghana were selected for 2026, with Ghana being the first stop.

According to Ms. Al Shamsi, a 20-person business delegation made up of medium-sized to large enterprises from various industries is scheduled to visit Accra on May 18 and 19, 2026.

The visit will feature plenary sessions, Business-to-Business (B2B) meetings with Ghanaian businesses, and a proposed keynote address by the Honourable Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Adjare-Ofosu.

Receiving the delegation on behalf of the Hon. Mr. Noah Tumfo, the Ministry’s Chief Director, emphasised the importance of diversifying trade relations, promoting value addition, and exploring opportunities to establish production hubs in Ghana to serve the UAE and the larger Asian market.

Mr. Tumfo highlighted Ghana’s strong investment appeal, citing preferential market access to the European Union, United Kingdom, United States, and the broader African market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

He further noted ongoing engagements that will soon grant Ghana duty-free and quota-free access to the Chinese market, presenting additional opportunities for investors seeking expanded market reach.

Additionally, he encouraged UAE investors to look into prospects in Ghanaian cocoa processing and export and described the Ministry’s ongoing business regulation reforms aimed at making doing business in Ghana easier, with a focus on cocoa value addition.

Also present at the meeting were senior officials from the Ministry and the Dubai Chamber, including the Director for Trade Development, Mr. Ebo Quaison, and Mr. Cyril Darkwa, Chief Representative for West Africa.
