Paul Apreku Twum-Barimah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dormaa East, has advised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) leaders, candidates, and supporters to remain composed and united as the party gears up to choose its flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.

The MP said in a statement on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 that it was crucial for the party to approach the presidential primaries on November 4, 2023 with a feeling of purpose and to refrain from any actions that would compromise the electoral process and the party’s cohesion.

“It is essential that we approach this crucial period with unity, empathy, and a shared sense of purpose.”“Our main aim as a political party is to retain political power, and therefore, unity, dedication, and commitment are crucial. I am confident that when we stand together, we shall break the eight and continue to achieve great things in building Ghana,” said Twum-Barimah.

He also urged party members to maintain peace before, during, and after the primaries by abstaining from hate speech and spreading false information or inciting violence.

He said, “As party faithfuls, we must refrain from any conduct, such as hate speech, misinformation, or incitement to violence, that could undermine the electoral process and ultimately the unity we enjoy as a party.”

The Dormaa East MP asked party members to concentrate on the group objective of making sure the party won the upcoming elections.

“Let’s come together as one party and strive to break the 8. Yes, we can! We shall break the 8,” Twum—Barimah declared, expressing confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory.

“God bless the New Patriotic Party. God bless our Homeland, Ghana, and make us great and strong,” concluded Twum-Barimah, encapsulating the party’s optimism and determination moving forward.

On November 4, 2023, the NPP presidential primary will be held, with a number of candidates seeking for the party’s nomination.

In the general elections of 2024, the victor will compete against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, the main opposition party.
