The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) reports that 15 persons have died and 25 others have been injured in a terrible traffic accident in Peki-Tsame in the Volta Region.
The deadly head-on collision happened close to Peki Senior High School early on Tuesday, June 2, 2026.
A Mercedes-Benz passenger bus with registration number GR 3215-E that was travelling from Battor to Kabiti in the Oti Region and a Mercedes-Benz container truck with registration number WR 1553-C that was heading from Nkwanta to Accra were involved in the collision.
The GNFS stated in a statement that 40 people, 21 men, 15 women, and four children, were engaged in the collision.
25 injured patients, including 23 adults and two children, were successfully extricated by Peki Fire Station firefighters who arrived on the site quickly and conducted a coordinated rescue effort.


However, the accident claimed the lives of fifteen people. There were six females and nine males among the deceased.
While the deceased’s bodies were turned over to the police and sent to the hospital mortuary for preservation and additional investigations, the injured were taken to the Peki Government Hospital for medical attention.
According to authorities, the accident’s cause is still being looked into.
The Ghana National Fire Service asked drivers to rigorously follow traffic laws and offered its condolences to the families of the deceased.
In order to prevent accidents and save lives, the Service also recommended that drivers drive as carefully as possible and refrain from driving carelessly.
