Following the release from the Akosombo and Kpong Dams, the Volta Regional Minister, Archibald Letsa, organized a delegation from the Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) to travel to the badly flooded Tongu districts.
This mission’s main goals were to determine the extent of the damage and offer the affected people the crucial relief supplies. The team included members of the Volta River Authority (VRA), Railway Minister John-Peter Amewu, various security agencies and institutions, as well as Ivy Amewugah, the Regional NADMO Director, and local media in addition to a government delegation led by Seji Saji, Deputy National NADMO Director General.
A debriefing session was convened in the North Tongu District Assembly to assess the severity of the situation prior to the tour to the impacted communities.
The main objective of this visit was to boost the affected communities’ sense of security by demonstrating the government’s consistent commitment to offering aid in the face of the upsetting flood conditions.
The team gave the victims three speed boats and other vital comfort items, such beds, blankets, life jackets, and toiletries, during their visit.
This project aims to provide the communities dealing with the flood’s aftermath with aid and practical assistance.
