26 people are being held by police in the Volta Region for drug-related offenses.

Through an intelligence-led operation, the Volta Regional Police Command has detained 26 suspects in relation to drug-related offenses at the Volta Region’s Aflao Border enclave.

In an attempt to crack down on suspected drug dealers and other associated criminal activity in the region, the individuals were taken into custody at a number of different sites.

Twenty wraps of suspected Indian hemp, twelve sachets of Tramadol tablets, a quantity of dried leaves thought to be Indian hemp in a rubber bucket, cash amounts of GHS30,558.00 and 17,500 CFA, six drug-laced toffees, eight creams suspected of containing narcotic substances, and 26 compressed parcels of suspected Indian hemp hidden in a fertiliser sack are among the exhibits recovered from the suspects.

The suspects are being held by the police at the moment and will be charged in court.
