Three individuals have been taken into custody by the Ada District Police Command on suspicion of trying to smuggle 248 bags of cocoa beans.
Two tipper trucks carrying the beans were stopped close to Ada Senior High School on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, leading to the arrest of the accused, Solomon Tetteh, 28; Nicholas Tetteh, 27; and Stephen Okronipa, 36.
Police say the cocoa beans were found in an orange CNHTC truck (GR 9877-12) and a green SHACMAN truck (GN 6953-22), hidden in jute and nylon sacks.
Since then, both cars have been seized, and the confiscated cocoa beans have been given to COCOBOD in Tema for storage.
While investigations are ongoing, the suspects are still being held.
Transport operators and traders have been warned by police not to participate in cocoa smuggling, as those found guilty will be subject to the full force of the law.
