Parliament of Ghana has announced new media accreditation and security guidelines for journalists and media organisations intending to cover the presentation of the 2027 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, is scheduled to present the 2027 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 12, 2026, in accordance with Article 179(1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

Ahead of the important parliamentary event, the legislature has introduced specific measures to regulate media coverage, ensure proper accreditation and maintain security within the parliamentary precincts.

Media Accreditation Required for 2027 Budget Coverage

According to the guidelines, all journalists and media houses seeking to cover the 2027 Budget presentation must obtain official accreditation from Parliament.

Journalists without valid accreditation will not be granted access to the parliamentary premises for the event.

Interested media organisations and individual reporters are required to submit their accreditation applications on or before Monday, November 9, 2026.

Accredited journalists must also ensure that their identification badges are clearly displayed throughout the proceedings.

Designated Areas for Journalists and Live Broadcasts

Parliament has directed journalists to operate strictly within the designated areas indicated on their accreditation badges.

All media interviews and live broadcasts will take place at the foyer on the ground floor of the Chamber Block.

However, the available space at the foyer will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The public gallery has been reserved for invited guests, meaning journalists are expected to conduct most of their reporting activities from the designated press gallery.

Parliament has also warned that the Rt. Hon. Speaker’s Lobby is strictly out of bounds for photography, interviews and other media-related engagements.

Security Screening for Journalists and Media Equipment

As part of the security arrangements for the 2027 Budget presentation, all journalists and representatives of media organisations will undergo security screening before gaining access to the designated areas.

The screening exercise will cover both media personnel and their equipment, including cameras, recording devices and other electronic gadgets.

Parliament has urged all media houses and journalists to comply fully with the accreditation requirements and operational directives to ensure smooth, secure and successful coverage of the national budget presentation.
