The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, is scheduled to undertake a week-long educational tour of Accra, the Central Region and Takoradi from November 10 to 17, 2026.
The upcoming visit was confirmed by the Asantehene’s linguist, Baffour Osei Kwame Kantankrakyi, who disclosed that the tour will involve several educational anniversary celebrations and institutional engagements.
During his stay in Accra, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II will participate in the 65th anniversary celebration of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).
The Asantehene will then proceed to the Central Region to attend the 150th anniversary celebration of Mfantsipim School, where he is expected to serve as Special Guest.
His educational tour will conclude in Takoradi, where he will join Takoradi Technical University for its Faculty Week celebration.
Asantehene’s Coastal Tour Recalls Historic Asante Expeditions
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s planned journey to Ghana’s coastal areas brings back memories of the historic coastal expeditions undertaken by Asantehene Osei Bonsu, who ruled the Asante Kingdom between 1800 and 1824.
Unlike those historical expeditions, the current visit will focus on education, institutional development and strengthening relationships between the Asante Kingdom and communities along Ghana’s coast.
The tour also highlights the Asantehene’s continued interest in education and the role of traditional leadership in promoting academic excellence, institutional growth and national development.
Through his participation in the celebrations, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II is expected to reinforce the importance of education as a foundation for Ghana’s social and economic progress.
