The Parliamentary Committee on Energy met with VRA management at the Anwomaso Thermal Power Station (ATPS) and took a technical tour of the facility as part of its last monitoring visits to power sector organisations.

The plant’s first phase, which had a 150 megawatt installed capacity, was put into service in 2024.

According to Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, CEO of VRA, phase II is anticipated to be finished by December 2025, adding a further 100 megawatts to the total of 250 megawatts.

Hon. Collins Adomako Mensah, the MP for Afigya Kwabre North and the committee’s deputy ranking member, expressed his delight and excitement that Ghanaian engineers completed the project.
